According to Cooper-Owen, smug posturing on social media will finally die a death. #Cleanliving on Instagram will be slowly replaced by realism, with Deliciously Stella leading the backlash against chia seed pudding and other foods you’d find while pond dipping.

SNAPCHAT GROWS UP AND POTENTIALLY GETS A BIT SCARY
Once dismissed as the place for youths to swap self-destructing nudey photos, Snapchat is now a mega-powerful and well-respected social network. Next year it will be opening its doors to more advertisers, who will presumably collect more user data based on our quickfire messages…

VIRTUAL REALITY WILL BE OUR VIRTUAL INSANITY
Virtual reality is set to become huge on social media. Facebook acquired Oculus, the virtual reality company, back in 2014 and has started integrating its technology already.

SOCIAL MEDIA WILL MAKE IMPULSE SHOPPING EVEN MORE DAMN EASY
It will become increasingly possible to buy things via ‘buy buttons’ on social media, as per the buyable pins trialled on Pinterest.

WE’LL ALL BE PINNING SHRUB DRINKS, COFFIN NAILS AND GEOMETRIC TILES. APPARENTLY.
According to Pinterest, these are the lifestyle trends we won’t be able to get enough of. Coffin nails, FYI, are a shape of false fingernail, cut straight along the top, like a coffin end. Nothing scary.

SOCIAL MEDIA WILL GET SERIOUS ABOUT SAFETY
‘Social media will increasingly become the place to go in emergency situations,’ says Moon. ‘With the rise of Facebook’s I Am Safe button, it’s only a matter of time until others offerways to not only let loved ones know we’re safe but also offer safety tips.’
